AJE team fulfil urgent Dubai job in record time

A nose frame was delivered just 11 days after receiving the job spec.

Being able to react quickly to a client’s needs for urgent work is a service which AJ Engineering prides itself on and it was no different when the team had only 11 days to turnaround a project which is now destined for Dubai.

Managing the project was Gary Moyes who explained: “The work was for an offshore client who we have worked with previously. The client specialises in sub-sea operations and they came to us safe in the knowledge that we would be able to help them out with a tight deadline. We were tasked with fabricating parts for a pile dredge system.”

Urgent request

Gary who has worked at AJ Engineering for two years added: “To complete the job quickly we had to access our pool of quality suppliers to ensure urgent delivery of all materials in the specialist grades required and of course once we had the materials we had to turn them around very quickly. In fact, from getting the project scope, to sourcing the materials, issuing drawings, fabricating and testing we actually delivered the first batch of pile bodies in just six days.

“We then had to work on the nose frames and these were completed just 11 days after receiving the work specifications.”

He added: “At AJ Engineering we pride ourselves in our ability to meet the most demanding of targets and we were only too happy to carry out this urgent scope. Our highly skilled workforce has once more demonstrated that we can complete such contracts on time and to an extremely high standard.

It took the team just six days to fabricate the nose pile bodies.

“The guys put in some big shifts to ensure this job met the delivery target and it is testament to the professionalism and application of all involved that we were able to deliver.”

Working together

The job also showed how the fabrication team and the company’s CNC workshop all based within the same Forres-site pulled together to complete the job: “AJE’s CNC workshop worked in conjunction with the fabrication team to complete all components quickly and accurately, in strict accordance with the fabrication schedule. This additional level of expertise and control on a mixed discipline job such as this sets AJ Engineering apart from many of our competitors and our client’s regularly benefit from the increased efficiency this can create.

“The short timescale meant all testing had to pass first time and we were able to ensure 100% passes. This level of quality and consistency is vital when faced with contracts of this nature.

We have been completing regular component orders from our CNC machine shop for this client for a while now. In addition to establishing ourselves as a reliable CNC supplier, fulfilling fabrication scopes of this nature showcases the full range of service at AJ Engineering and our continued commitment to meeting client requirements and delivering quality, reliability and value.”

But the job did not finish there: “In addition to this we completed another urgent scope for the same client immediately after delivery of this one,” explained Gary. “For this job we successfully fabricated hang-off clamps and frames on a six-day turnaround. The workshop are currently completing ROV separates and we hope to continue to strengthen our working relationship and supply many more similar contracts in future.”
