The force is with you Boyd
AJE was delighted to finally be able to award Boyd Miller with his prize after he won our lockdown STEM competition.
Back in March, at the start of lockdown the company launched a fun competition to help families doing their best to teach their kids at home,
As an engineering firm, clearly we value the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and we asked was that people post a picture or video of any STEM related fun they had been having.
Boyd who is now in primary five at Dyke Primary School and his dad Ricki were chosen as winners by general manager Graham Alexander.
Graham said: “We were delighted with the entries that we received and with the variety of experiments and activities that people were trying. There are certainly some future engineers out there. However, what we liked about what Boyd and his dad did was how simple it was. They tested the force of friction using old phone books. Simple but effective.”
Boyd has now been gifted his £50 Mackenzie & Cruickshank voucher as his prize and as he explained he plans to use it on something very special: “We have just got a new kitten so I hope to use some of my prize money on some toys and treats for our new cat in the M&C pet department. I enjoyed doing the experiment with my dad, but I am also glad to now be back at school.”
