Alan James’ appointment has been confirmed by the Queen and he joins Joan Cowe from Lossiemouth, John Stuart, the Earl of Moray and Margaret Stenton from Mosstowie.

Speaking of his new role, Alan said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been made a Deputy Lieutenant along with my new colleagues and we now join the existing Moray Lieutenancy team.  I am looking forward to supporting and assisting the Lord-Lieutenant Maj Gen the Hon Seymour Monro in his role as the Queen’s representative for Moray.

“In particular, as Forres born and bred, I will be able to promote and support the Forres wide community and its organisations.  Currently the Lieutenancy is leading and has helped set up the Moray Emergency Relief Fund to provide financial and tangible support to those in desperate need in these very challenging Covid 19 times.”

Major General Seymour Monro said all four new deputies would be a great asset.

“All these four have done so much in so many different ways over the years. They will be a great asset to our Lieutenancy team at this time of pandemic when we need to be up to strength to working alongside councillors, our communities and local businesses.

“They have all already been playing a proactive role in this lockdown situation, and I know will become outstanding Deputy Lieutenants.”

Alan’s appointment comes just two weeks after he was nominated for an award by The Institute of Directors in Scotland.

Alan is one of six finalists in the director of the year category for small and medium size businesses.

The winners are set to be announced on Tuesday, September 8.
