AJE lights up VE Day celebrations
AJE played a small part in local 80th VE Day Commemorations and celebrations by replacing a cresset that was used to hold a beacon.
The company was approached by Findhorn Village resident Bob James who asked if we could help repair an existing cresset, a large metal basket which holds wood which is then lit. The cresset has been used at several civic events, most recently at the late Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
However, when the AJE team started to work on the cresset, they decided that the metal basket was too worn and instead opted to fabricate brand new one, free of charge.
Bob said: “We were absolutely delighted when the team from AJ Engineering returned the cresset to us, to find they had actually made us a completely new one. AJ Engineering has once again gone above and beyond for its community. The cresset sits in the water and in the past it has been quite a tricky thing to install, but this new cresset, will be much easier to install and will no doubt be used at public events for years to come.”
Findhorn village was chosen by the Lieutenancy as one site where a beacon was to be lit as part of the VE Celebrations across the region.
