New apprentice for NEWCo
Ahead of an investment in equipment for its CNC shop, NEWCo has employed a new apprentice who joined the team at the end of June.
Caitlin MacDonald is about to embark on the apprenticeship in CNC machining with Glasgow Clyde College as NEWCo general manager Neil, explained: “Caitlin is a great asset to the team already. At the moment, our CNC shop is a traditional manual set up, but we are investing in Caitlin with this apprenticeship as we are looking to upgrade the machine shop next year. The intention is that she will be at the cutting edge of all the new technology.”
Neil who now has a total staff of 26 at the Fort William-based business said: “Caitlin will officially start her course in August, but she has been working with Tom Mackay who is our CNC expert already. Tom has over 50 years’ experience, so she is in good hands and will be learning lots.”
Caitlin’s first year will predominantly be spent at college, but in the holidays will return to NEWCo and it is also intended that she will spend time at the CNC workshop at the Greshop site in Forres.
“We want to give Caitlin as much experience as possible. She is very enthusiastic and intelligent and is fitting in really well.”
