Five years in Antarctica
Another team is due to head out to Rothera in Antarctica continuing AJE’s five-year relationship with BAM Nuttal.
Every year, since 2020, AJE has been sending teams to work on The Discovery Building, a world class scientific research station, operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS).
The building has been designed with a focus on sustainable and environmental design and will house both BAS’ science and operations teams.
Earlier this year, we told how the project had reached a milestone with the cladding being completed. The team will now be putting the finishing touches to the building and will be dismantling and packaging up existing buildings for them to be shipped back to the UK.
BAM Nuttall has an ongoing relationship with BAS and are now more than halfway through a 10-year, £500m contract to upgrade and extend their polar research stations.
